Thank you, thank you, thank you to JESSICA for reminding me about this deal! I had read about it a few days ago but have been swamped...I forgot to tell all of you about it!**********************Just wanted to throw up a quick note to alert you all to a HUGE HUGE HUGE moneymaker coming up in two weeks at CVS!
There are some tearpads (coupons) near the battery displays in most stores (some stores have them in other locations, so you may have to search) for CVS store coupons of $5/1 Duracell batteries, expiration 1/31/09 and listed as "one per customer."
TRY TO GET AT LEAST SIX, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
If you have trouble with obtaining said coupons, be sure to email me and I'll try to help you out. I might not have them in possession, but I can give you a good idea of where you can get some online, if you're interested in this deal.
That bit about "one per customer," by the way, means you can only use one coupon per transaction, so keep that in mind for the following deal:
The week of 11/16, Duracell batteries are on sale for "buy $20, get back $15 ECBs" and are sale priced at $5.99 for the 8pk of AA and AAA, the 4pk of C and D, or the 2pk of 9V.
There is a LIMIT OF THREE on this deal.
I, by the way, have a card for each member of our family (four of them). So we will be taking advantage of this deal in one way or another 12 times.
Free batteries, CVS, you rock.
Stock up on batteries to give with Christmas presents! Lots of us have kids, and those of us with a few Christmases under our belts know how many stupid batteries you go through in the weeks following the holiday!
So the deal is a moneymaker...but you have to go out and get those coupons from the stores now, they won't be available that week since everyone's gonna clear 'em out.
Soooooo, the deal could potentially get to be a bit of a pain in the ass since those $5/2 coupons clearly state "one per customer." You'll get a bit sick of CVS (or at least of multiple transactions there) but it'll be so worth the free batteries!
You can bring a few "transactions" worth of items to the counter at one time...I've done up to three separate transactions at once (some people report doing up to 10, I don't have the balls to though), but am always mindful of whether I'm in front of a line of customers. I'll only do one transaction if there are multiple customers, then go back through for additional "trips."
Trip #1:
5.99 (batteries)
5.99 (batteries)
----------------------------
11.98 <--- THIS IS YOUR TOTAL TOWARDS THE REQUIRED $20
-5.00 5/2 cvs duracell
----------------------------
6.98
-1.50 (2 x .75/1 manf. Q's from 10/26 RP)
----------------------------
$5.48
11.98 <--- THIS IS YOUR TOTAL TOWARDS THE REQUIRED $20
-5.00 5/2 cvs duracell
----------------------------
6.98
-1.50 (2 x .75/1 manf. Q's from 10/26 RP)
----------------------------
$5.48
NOTE: There is NOT AN ECB ISSUED with the first transaction. Your card keeps a tally of what you're spending, so the second transaction with the above scenario, which brings your total spending to just under $24, will issue your $15 in ECBs.
Make sure you also scan your ECB card at the self-scanner kiosk inside the store, you're almost always guaranteed to walk away with some sort of $X/$XX coupon to use with with the batteries as well, making them even cheaper! I got a $2/$10 on my mom's card last night, got a $10/$50 the other day on my main card. Cory's card got a $3/$15 a few days ago. Each brings your total down (though my $10/$50 obviously needs to be spent with additional items and needs more planning).
You will, of course, pay any balance with ECBs so you don't have any massive OOPs, but you can always pay cash for the first two transactions if you absolutely have to. Then go back and do your additional ones, rolling the ECBs you've "made."
Do the exact same transaction a second time, and you walk out with four 8pks of AA or AAA batteries (these are the ones we kill on a regular basis) for free!
With the limit, for one card you can go back a total of SIX TIMES (provided you have six of the $5/2 coupons -- and not worrying over the insert coupons, unless you have a way to get 12 of them!).
_________________________________
If you have no other coupons, only the $5/2 from CVS coupons, your totals would be the following:
$5.99
$5.99
-------------
$11.98
- $5/2 coupon (CVS for Duracell)
------------------
$6.98
again, hopefully you can pair this with a kickass $X/$XX coupon
Then do that same thing above a second time...even without the $X/$XX coupon, you'll end up spending $13.96 and get back $15 in ECBs. So you walk out with a little over $1 in profit.
Again, make sure you're rolling the ECBs you already have so you have less OOP!
___________________________________________
So the worst case scenario, provided you do get your 6 coupons and go through the line 6 times over the course of the week, is that you end up with 12 packages of batteries (that's 96 AAA or AA batteries) for free!
YAY!
